The 8th and Final Conference in Scotland

What an amazing experience this whole project has been. There aren't enough words to describe how grateful we are having had the chance to meet all these wonderful people and make friends around Europe. Both teachers and students will surely carry on keeping in touch and doing projects together in the future. We have learned so much about each other's cultures through this topic of 4 elements and during the conference weeks in each other's countries. The final conference in Gairloch, Scotland was a success and we all enjoyed immensely the varied program and the warm atmosphere. 7th Comenius The 4ENs Conference in Spain, Lepe

February 9th-13th was the time for our second last meeting in this project and this time it was wonderful Spain who got to host us. Weather was definitely warmer than in Finland and we enjoyed the spring colours and the wonderful blue sea that we cannot see in Finland at the moment as it's frozen. We felt really comfortable and welcomed in Spain and enjoyed the week immensely, learning a lot of new things, once again, about the four elements of nature. Here you can have a look what kind of experiences we had during the conference week:) Our students Niilo and Mikko gave thorough and informative presentation in the Lepe Theater hall of "Snow". The 6th Conference Week - Winter Wonders in Finland :)

We had a great meeting, once again, and this time it was our turn to organize the conference week at Utajärvi, Finland. We spent the first day at school, giving presentations and having an official meeting (whilst students got to bake some Finnish joulutorttu ;)) and then in the evening we had a PreChristmas (Pikkujoulut) with the whole of upper secondary school. It was a great night and got everyone in the Christmas spirit:) On Tuesday we experienced different winter activities at Rokua Geopark and learned about the Geopark area. The guests also got to enjoy the warm waters of the spa. On Wednesday we drove all the way to Rovaniemi to meet, who other than, the Santa Claus himself. He was happy to see us and definitely didn't forget to come and greet all of us at Christmas as he could clearly see how well-behaved we all are! <3 On Thursday then we took a visit to Koivikko farm at Muhos to see how a modern cow farm functions and then we went on a tour around Oulu. We visited the frozen seeside in Nallikari and then spent some time at the city centre. It was so lovely to have you all here as quests and we learned so much about each other's cultures and how the 4 elements affect our lives:)

Finland's 4ENs Presentation in Greece - Our National Epic Kalevala

Our group of students, who participate in this Comenius-project, made his modernized version of our national epic Kalevala together. This video shows famous paintings depicting Kalevala made by Akseli Gallen-Kallela and we chose especially such scenes which show all the four elements. Comenius partners from Finland, Portugal and Spain met in Lisbon in April!

Our school organizes our own internationality project for each second year class in our upper secondary school. This year we organized a trip to Lisbon. Our students worked hard to collect the money and we spent a wonderful week in Lisbon and the surrounding areas. What was especially special about our trip was the chance to have a weekend together with a group of students and teachers from our partner school in Lepe, Spain and our partner teacher, Maria from the school in Porto, Portugal also came to meet us. The students got to get to know one another, we had lovely picnic at a park and saw some sights of Lisbon. This is truly one of the best things about the Comenius project: we have friends and partners from around Europe and we can organize get togethers whenever, wherever and offer amazing opportunities for our students to cooperate with young people from around Europe.

Europe Day in Utajärvi Upper Secondary School

We celebrated The Europe Day already on Tuesday the 6th of May by presenting all our The 4ENs Comenius Conference trips for the whole of school. All the students who are taking part to this project presented their conference trips and also told about the project works dealing with the four basic elements of nature.
